What we do

We support the development of tower bell ringing through training, mentoring, focused practices and recorded performances. We aim to raise awareness of tower bells in the local community by organising tower visits, demonstrations, talks and providing recruitment information. We provide competent bands of ringers for ringing at Bampton and Huntsham. We raise funds for the long-term maintenance and development of the equipment in the Centre. We also make donations to other towers, bellringing charities and related organisations.

Extended ringing opportunities are provided at our sound-controlled tower at Huntsham. Novice ringers can learn bell handling skills using the Abel simulator at Bampton and be supported in the early ringing by experienced groups at both towers. More experienced ringers can get support in extending their skills through our programme of EVENTS.

Would you like to learn to ring church bells?

We are recruiting new ringers both Bampton and Huntsham towers. Ringing is a team activity which can open up a whole new world new friends, physical exercise, mental stimulation and links to a great English tradition across the whole country. Come and have three trial lessons for free to find out what it's all about. Our leaflet on learning to ring will tell you more.

The Troyte Ringing Centre is recognised by the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers and in 2007 won the Founder’s Prize for the Best Ringing Centre. In 2018 the Centre gained registered charity status from the Charity Commission (Reg. No. 1179374).

Donate to our fund raising efforts and it will not cost you a penny :

Bampton is equipped with video, audio, CCTV and an ABEL linked practice bell. Bampton is used for basic bell handling training, to develop individual ringing skills and to develop six bell ringing.
